Mike Smith on Alex Murdoch's Manifesto - Competitions

 And now  Competitions and Championships

1    Alex Murdoch states “ We have an excellent and large  competition  programme “
No one  doubts the tremendous  efforts of  those involved in running  this programme and as a former Tournament Organiser nationally, I know what goes into it all and that is often  truly remarkable.
But what do the Licensed Players  think of it ? Are they or their parents and coaches  pleased with it all ?  Perhaps the Review below will tell us eventually ?
Alan  makes “ Better Value for Licensed Players “ one of his 10  points on his Manifesto

2    Alex  Murdoch states that “ a  Competition Review  is  being conducted “
After a long gestation , it has just reached the consultative stage .  Since it seemed to  be  another  priority , why so long to reach this stage  and how long will it be before  any findings are agreed and implemented?

3    Then there was  the Glue testing   problem last year when it would seem no one in authority  really knew  what was happening ? This caused significant problems  for players and officials

4     And finally there was the racket covering  dilemma  for Leagues.   The current  Chairman   gave advice to National Council  in April ;  expert  information  available at July National Council led to a  change   and National Council wanted this  to go out to Leagues before the start of the season . But when this expert advice was seen by the current Chairman  , he would not authorise distribution  leaving the  Leagues in  limbo .

5     Alan also has a section on Umpires and Referees  following his initiative in conjunction with NURC.   Why was this not an initiative from the current Chairman ? Why has not even a start been made on implementation?
